I pause along Mahoney Meadows Road to take in the view across the canyon to Willow Ridge on the other side.

It looks as if a very steep trail descends the face of Willow Ridge down into the canyon, on the right in the photo. Perhaps it's just massive erosion because I've not noticed any trail there on my maps.

The more moderate (it didn't feel moderate!) Willow Ridge Trail that I had problems climbing on day two of the trip more or less rises up the slope in the centre-left of the photo.
